Does health insurance cover chiropractic?

That is a difficult question to answer because health insurance is really not health insurance.  Health insurance pays for disease treatment.  And, many chiropractors flatly refuse to treat disease.  They want to keep people free from vertebral subuxations whether they have a disease or not.

Those chiropractors who agree with the insurance companies that they will treat various conditions do in fact get reimbursed by the insurance companies or the patients get reimbursed depending on who pays.  There are many chiropractors however who offer a maintenance program and insurance companies will never pay for a maintenance program.

Insurance companies call themselves health insurance companies, but they are really disease treatment companies.  They do not pay for the maintenance of health.  They will agree that good rest and good exercise are important to health, but they don't pay for membership in health clubs or good nutrition.  They only pay for the treatment of a disease.  So really "Health Insurance" is a misnomer.
